Moving forward

Ahhh the things my boy is learning! He graduated from his basic obedience class tonight & he has obtained his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate...next he works more on public access training with Deborah VanGelder. He continues to go to the VA on visits and to the Highland Branch Library. Each time he keeps getting better and better. Elevators are no longer a problem for my man. He seriously loves his trainer. :) He sneaks her boxer hugs whenever he gets the chance...yup he thinks he is a lap dog.

His last visit to the VA hospital went really well. We went up to the psych ward and this guy really took to Mo. He missed his boxer that he had at home. It is so nice to see these dogs bring a smile to the faces of my fellow veterans... I am lucky enough to have Mo's love and therapy everyday, and I will definitely not take that forgranted. He is my superstar.

Veterans Hospital Visit

Today marked MO's first visit to the Loma Linda VA Hospital! He was a bit nervous, but overall did well and brought smiles and smiles to people that were confined to the hospital. It was a great experience and I am looking forward to next month's visit!

YAY!

I finally got through to raspberryfield.com today and ordered MO his service band and his patches. I can't wait to get them! They are really good quality and I look forward to MO working with these on and ensuring that he gets used to them in time for when he does his testing for service dog work!

Trying trying.

Trying to order MO's cape and service dog patches. The company is not answering their phone and not returning calls...thinking of a different company as a possibility.
The weather has been too hot to do much of anything. MO has been pretty spoiled lately and not been asked to do much in the way of training. He was so good for the kids on Saturday I felt he deserved a nice break.

I did get a lot of people asking why I was using a Boxer as a service/therapy dog. Well, the answer is, he is my baby. He is not a 'typical' service dog, but, he has a great temperament and disposition. He can get excited as all Boxers do, but he also knows when to calm down. He is not a beggar, and has great manners. There are so many reasons why I am using him, but deep down, he has already been my baby for so many months and I wanted him to be there with me through thick and thin!
