Veterans Hospital Visit

Today marked MO's first visit to the Loma Linda VA Hospital! He was a bit nervous, but overall did well and brought smiles and smiles to people that were confined to the hospital. It was a great experience and I am looking forward to next month's visit!

YAY!

I finally got through to raspberryfield.com today and ordered MO his service band and his patches. I can't wait to get them! They are really good quality and I look forward to MO working with these on and ensuring that he gets used to them in time for when he does his testing for service dog work!

Trying trying.

Trying to order MO's cape and service dog patches. The company is not answering their phone and not returning calls...thinking of a different company as a possibility.
The weather has been too hot to do much of anything. MO has been pretty spoiled lately and not been asked to do much in the way of training. He was so good for the kids on Saturday I felt he deserved a nice break.

I did get a lot of people asking why I was using a Boxer as a service/therapy dog. Well, the answer is, he is my baby. He is not a 'typical' service dog, but, he has a great temperament and disposition. He can get excited as all Boxers do, but he also knows when to calm down. He is not a beggar, and has great manners. There are so many reasons why I am using him, but deep down, he has already been my baby for so many months and I wanted him to be there with me through thick and thin!

Well, Saturday went off without a hitch! MO did really well! He loved on the kids, they loved on him. He was read to, but mostly he was loved on. It was really nice to see kids in the library. It was even nicer to hear young kids thanking adults for bringing the dogs in. I sometimes wonder if they knew the word still, but they do!

First meeting

Today MO met his fellow service dogs. There are a lot of doxies! We also got our schedule for the next few months, and boy am I going to be busy! There is even a trip to Disneyland, but I may have to sit this one out as Emma has a soccer game that day. I still need to order MO's service dog cape. Think I will do that first thing in the morning.

Relaxing day

Today we just relaxed, it is going to be a long day tomorrow. I have an estate sale to help run and MO needs to be there with me. I think all of the people will be a good exposure for him. Then friday evening we have our meeting for service/therapy work with Deborah VanGelder. There will be lots of people and dogs at this meeting and I am so excited to be starting this journey with MO.

saturday...

MO has been in training for a few weeks now...well, 4 weeks to be exact. He is doing so well and is already a different dog! For a Boxer, and being a pound puppy on top of it, he is doing extremely well and is pretty calm and focused when we are working.

This saturday marks his first outing where he will be working as a therapy dog. He will be in the library having little kids reading to him! I am SO excited I can hardly wait to see how he does!

Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes well for us!
